MANDATORY OPERATIONAL MARKS
Operational marks are intended solely to convey information requested for the movement of containers or to give visual warnings. They relate to
– the weight of containers,
– a sign warning of overhead electrical danger,
– a height mark for containers higher than 2,6 m (8 ft 6 in).
Quality of Marking
ISO Standards do not provide rules for the quality of marking. To the extent possible, it is recommended to select markings that will last for the life of the container, and ideally using plastic film. Specific recommendations can be found in part XV of the Customs Convention on Containers, 1972, updated February 2017. It can be consulted here.
